Science of Ayurveda
According to the basic principles of Ayurveda, the universe is composed of or five fundamental elements (Panchamahabhuta); space (Akasha), Air (Vayu), Fire (Agni), Water (Jala) and Earth (Prithvi). The combination of these five elements creates the three biological Forces (doshas) which govern the functioning of the human body.
Vata (Elements of space & earth) : governs motion
Pitta (Elements of fire & water) : governs metabolism
Kapha (Elements of water & earth): responsible for cohesiveness
These doshas in balance create health and in imbalance cause various diseases in the influence of external and internal factors.
